Emotional food and drink cravings
You know those thoughts and feelings that make you want to reach for the biscuits, cakes, crisps and that make you feel guilty about leaving food on your plate? The old idea that you just have to learn to cope is out of date. We live in the modern world & have developed simple ways for you to make huge differences to whatever it is that is causing the cravings and addictions towards that unhealthy food. |
The reasons for food/drink cravings and addictions can explained in 4 points:
1: Past memories of feeling good about eating/drinking certain foods/drinks. These memories will trigger in the brain and also trigger the controlling feelings of needing the food or drink. 2: A creation of a habit. Such as eating when bored or always going to the snack machine at work. 3: Self-medicating. Your brain/body knows that certain ingredients will keep emotions & stress suppressed so you crave certain ingredients to survive. 4: Gaining what your body needs. If it’s lacking, your body/brain will make you feel a craving for something that has the ingredient(s)/nutrition it wants. |
